Invaded by polarbears!
It is hard to say how rumors spread in the Polar Bear World. But the 7th of May rumor was: Meat by Mushamna! The dogs don’t like seal blubber. They eat the meat, and leave the blubber. A few old bits of this were thrown on the ice together with some dog shit. Must be lack of food for the Woodfjorden bears, ‘cause this was enough to tempt at least six different Polar Bear to Mushamna last Thursday. First a young lonesome guy came wandering. Soon after, a huge bear came along. Obviously the first one knew who the boss was. He ran off quickly, and the big one turned and told her kid it was time for dinner. The small polar bear had just started to enjoy his meal when scary Linda came along to chase them both away. Soon after, yet another small bear came running from the south. He seemed too small to be alone, but unfortunately it was not easy for him to win in this strict hierarchy. He was for sure still hungry as he was chased away by the others… The four of them stayed out on the ice, waiting for me to disappear, as the fifth bear came along. This was a huge guy that I managed to scare pretty well with the scooter. Yet another bear came by, while the four first visitors stayed in the area the whole day. For sure, not the day for me to leave the dogs and chop wood at Gråhuken, as planned. Instead I stayed on the roof, mixing between reading, watching bears and trying various ways to scare them off. A perfectly normal day in the trapper world… ;-)
