Onsdag 21. april startet en ny tradisjon i Ny-Ålesund: The World's Drunkenmost Sled Dog Race! Ny-Ålesund ØL- og Hundeklubb står på ingen måte tilbake for sine naboer sør i Longyearbyen. Hundeløpet var ikke bare The Worlds

The World's Drunkenmost Sled Dog Race
Longyearbyen claims to have the world's northernmost sledge dog race. This is no longer a fact. Last Wednesday Ny-Ålesund Øl og Hundeklubb (Beer- and dog club) arranged the world's Northernmost AND Drunkenmost Sled Dog Race. The race started by the Dog Yard in Ny-Ålesund and went eastbound to the French research station Corbel. Here everybody was served
glüwein and French crepes before we all headed back to Ny-Ålesund. Sebastien went by sledge with four dogs; Damien by ski with two dogs. The rest of us had one dog each. Henning K even went by foot the whole way! Not bad. Except Lava and her puppies, all dogs in the dog yard attended the race. A great gathering for us all! To even
out the difference between the teams, we all had to drink one beer per dog during the way to Corbel, at Corbel AND on the way back. Therefore the world's Drunkenmost Race. But we promise you, the dogs were sober. No hang over on Thursday morning!
